Foundation Machine Polishing (Group)

£195.00 per person

Foundation Machine Polishing Group is a one-day introduction to dual-action machine polishing, run in a small group of up to five people — a relaxed, sociable way to learn the fundamentals alongside others starting from the same point.

Whether you’re polishing your own car at home for the first time or building toward professional-level technique, the day covers defect identification, paint reading, pad and compound selection, machine handling, and the finishing techniques that get genuinely professional results. You’ll have access to our full range of machines throughout.

If you’d prefer the instructor’s full attention for the day, our Foundation Machine Polishing (1-to-1) course covers the same ground at your own pace.

Group days run roughly every three to six months and tend to fill quickly — if a date below suits you, it’s worth booking sooner rather than later.

Foundation Machine Polishing Group Course

Who this is for

This course suits anyone at the early stages of their machine polishing journey — whether you’ve never picked up a dual-action polisher before, you’ve only used one machine type and want broader experience, or you’ve outgrown an entry-level machine and want to build proper technique with a long-throw DA.

The group format works well if you’re comfortable learning alongside others and want a lower-cost way to get started. If you’d benefit more from individual pacing and undivided instructor attention, the one-to-one version of this course may suit you better.

What the day covers

The day combines hands-on machine time with the knowledge that makes machine polishing work correctly: identifying surface defects and contamination, preparing and decontaminating surfaces correctly, and reading paint thickness using magnetic resonance, eddy current, and ultrasonic gauges.

From there, you’ll work through pad and compound selection, polishing and finishing technique, and options for dressing, sealants, and final presentation — all with health and safety built in throughout.

The aim is to leave with the confidence to operate a dual-action polisher across different situations, and the judgement to adapt your approach as the job demands.

Machines & equipment

We have over 30 machines in-house from a wide range of manufacturers. If you haven’t settled on what to buy, the day is a genuine opportunity to try different options before committing — or bring your own machine and let us know in advance. Remember, we’re not a shop, so we’re not trying to sell you anything!

Next steps

Once you’re confident with dual-action polishing, our two-day, 1-to-1 Advanced Machine Polishing course covers all machine types — rotary, forced drive, nano, and flexible shaft — in much greater depth for more technical correction ability. Otherwise, use the skills learnt and turn to us for ongoing support whenever needed!
