Create your new business, or add a new service to an existing business, using British-made repair products by LeTech to fix and restore leather.
Leather repair is one of the most in-demand services a detailer can add to their skill portfolio, and as a standalone business, leather repair has never been in higher demand than right now!
If you’re looking to start repairing leather as part of your detailing business, you’re opening yourself up to a huge opportunity – both in stand-alone repairs, a leather repair business, or additional service income to detailing work on car leather, marine leather, and aviation leather.
This comprehensive repair course, with internationally renowned LeTech professional products, is an intensive one-to-one training and skills development that teaches you the techniques and product knowledge necessary for successful leather repairs.
Participants are guided through every aspect of leather repair, from initial cleaning and assessment to addressing common issues such as scuffs, rips, and tears. Instruction includes in-house colour matching and blending techniques, as well as repair and recolouring of steering wheels, trim and complete colour changes.
Upon completion, attendees gain LeTech Academy certification and the expertise and confidence to undertake leather repairs on a wide range of vehicles, with ongoing technical support provided for as long as needed. A trade account discount is offered to lower the cost of ongoing consumable purchases, and marketing and branding for your business is available, as well as co-promotion via social media to help boost your visibility.
Course Programme
The base course is structured over three days, with the first day focusing on theory aspects of leather, cleaning, and maintenance.
The second day delves into repair techniques and graining, working practically on vehicle parts so you can be confident your skills match the work you will be completing.
The third day is dedicated to practical sessions where participants hone their colour-matching skills, tackle more complex repairs, and refine their practical repair abilities under the guidance of our instructors.
An optional fourth day – available to add in the booking options, or separately once you’ve practised your skills, allows for further development of colour matching technique, and demonstrates additional options – including the NIX colour scanner – sold separately – and access to a database full of existing recipes to speed up the colour matching process.
This immersive learning approach instils confidence, enabling attendees to immediately commence minor repairs, whilst continued practice – with ongoing support – is recommended to master nuances such as trickier colour matching and intricate repair work.
The course focuses on technique and contains universal skills, but leans on the expertise and products made in the UK by LeTech leather repair, which has cross-compatibility with many existing water-based repair systems for those looking to adapt existing product lines.
With over half of UK cars now supplied with leather or artificial leather as standard, the ability to offer a repair service has never been greater. The skills take practice to master, but are among the most satisfying aspects of car renovation, with clients eager to keep their vehicles in great condition.
